Requesting and disclosing information helps us determine whether tamariki and rangatahi are in need of care, protection or assistance and to understand the support and services that they need.
The provisions make it clear we can request information if we believe it’s in the best interests of tamariki and will support their wellbeing or safety.
Any decision to disclose information should be done to help support and protect tamariki or rangatahi, or assist their family/whānau to help tamariki or rangatahi as early as possible.
We must consult with te tamaiti about disclosing their information. It is also good practice to consult with others whose information we are sharing if it is safe and appropriate to do so.
