Policy
Case recording
Case recording helps us uphold the mana and understand and tell the story of those we work with, including tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau or family. It also helps us understand our engagement with wider networks including hapū and iwi during a case.
Advocacy
Whakamana te tamaiti or rangatahi through advocacy
Respecting the voice of te tamaiti or rangatahi and incorporating their views is vital to our work. We advocate for te tamaiti or rangatahi and support them to access independent advocacy as required to help them understand, communicate and participate.
Interventions
Confidentiality and the family group conference
A family group conference is a private and confidential meeting. All discussion and information shared during the conference is privileged.
Policy
Supporting the participation of tamariki and rangatahi
We must ensure tamariki and rangatahi have the information and support they need to freely express their views and actively participate in the work we do together.
Care
Supporting tamariki and rangatahi with their health needs
Good health is essential to oranga and positive life outcomes. We need to support tamariki and rangatahi to access health services, both to maintain their good health and to meet any health and disability needs.
Disability
Working with disabled tamariki and their whānau or family who may need specialised out-of-home care
Disabled tamariki are supported by Oranga Tamariki like all other tamariki who need our support, including if they need to live in out-of-home care.
