A small number of children and young people adopted from Samoa and living in New Zealand may experience harm and exploitation.
Care
All About Me plan to meet the needs of tamariki and rangatahi
The All About Me plan is designed to enable us to respond to the needs of tamariki and rangatahi in the custody or care of the chief executive in line with the National Care Standards. It applies to care and protection and youth justice.
Practice approach
Physical abuse
Physical abuse involves situations where a tamaiti has an injury or was at serious risk of injury. The harm could be deliberate or unintentionally result from a deliberate action.
Assessment and planning
Responding to non-accidental injuries – multi-agency safety planning
We work collaboratively with professionals and whānau or family to secure the safety of tamariki with a suspected non-accidental injury.

Care
Higher fostercare allowance
The higher fostercare allowance (HFCA) is used when a caregiver requires additional and specific financial support to meet the special needs of te tamaiti or rangatahi in their care that is best provided through a regular higher rate of payment.
Care
Medical examinations and treatment
Tamariki or rangatahi may need a medical exam or treatment for obvious illness or injury, or at other times such as after an unauthorised absence or being missing, engaging in high-risk behaviour or sharing they've been harmed but we can’t see an injury.

Working with Māori
Kairaranga ā-whānau
Kairaranga ā-whānau is a specialist Māori role. The literal meaning of the term is: a person who is a weaver of family connections.
Care
Financial support for tamariki and rangatahi in care
Oranga Tamariki supports tamariki and rangatahi in care to ensure their assessed needs are met. A financial plan sets out the financial support required to meet those needs. We plan proactively and consider the full range of support needs.
