Assessment and planning
Subsequent child – section 18A assessment by social worker
Social workers need to complete a thorough section 18 assessment by working closely with the parents, family, whānau, hapū, iwi or family group to understand if te tamaiti is unlikely to be at risk of the kind of harm experienced by a previous tamaiti.
Assessment and planning
Using chronologies to support decision-making in the initial assessment phase
A chronology records the key life events of tamariki or rangatahi and their whānau or family to help us understand their journey to date and identify patterns of harmful impacts on oranga or behaviour and times when oranga has been positively experienced.
