We need to be able to recognise different oranga concerns and decide how we can best work with te tamaiti or rangatahi and their whānau or family to support them.Supporting tamariki and rangatahi and their whānau or family
Tamariki and rangatahi may be affected by a range of oranga concerns that require our support. We need to have an understanding of specialist topics such as:
Preventing suicide and self-harm
Working effectively with families impacted by violence
Working with tamariki aged under 5 years
Sexual harm and sexual behaviour
When tamariki are unsupervised (‘home alone’)
Abusing volatile substances (huffing)
Concerning fire-related behaviour
Responding to concerns involving extremism or radicalisation
