Intercountry adoption applications to the Family Court
When adoptive applicants apply for intercountry adoption directly to the Family Court, we determine the best way to proceed depending on the countries of residence of all parties to the adoption application. We liaise with the Intercountry Adoption Team.

Responding to concerns involving extremism or radicalisation
What we need to focus on when we respond to oranga, care, protection or youth justice concerns for tamariki or rangatahi who are or may be engaged with or connected to extremist or radical groups or ideology where violence or threats of violence feature.
In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) surrogacy adoption
Children born as a result of in-vitro fertilisation procedures have a right to know about their origins and to be able to access information about those origins. Under New Zealand law the surrogate (and partner) are recognised as the legal parents of the child. In order for the intending parents to be recognised as the child’s legal parents they will need to apply to adopt the child.
