Measurement plan

Our measurement and evaluation plan helps us gather and report on data that can inform content and design decisions on the Practice Centre.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect and analyse details about how people use the Practice Centre and to look for patterns. This information helps us make content and design decisions.

It is important to be able to distinguish different users when collecting this data, especially between Oranga Tamariki kaimahi and external users. We have set up the following 3 views.

View: Practice Centre website data for all users

This view is set up to show data for all users of the website, including Oranga Tamariki kaimahi who are signed in and Oranga Tamariki kaimahi who aren't signed in, as well as external users.

View: Practice Centre website data for signed-in users

This view is set up to show data for Oranga Tamariki kaimahi who have signed into the Practice Centre.

View: Practice Centre website data for users not signed in

This view is set up to show data for Oranga Tamariki kaimahi who have not signed in as well as for external users of the website. Note that this data will include Oranga Tamariki kaimahi who are using personal devices to access the Practice Centre.

Google Analytics event tracking

Google Tag Manager has been used to set up event tracking of specific interactions on the Practice Centre.

Printing pages

The Print event tracks users clicking the 'Print page' link on any page of the site so we can understand how many users use that functionality. We want to change their behaviour so they save and bookmark links instead, which means they'll be viewing the most up-to-date content. Note: the Print event doesn't track users printing through their browser.

The Print event displays under the Utilities events category in Google Analytics and the Event Label shows the breakdown of which page URLs this occurred on.

Sharing pages

The Share event tracks users clicking the 'Share the link to this page' link on any page of the site so we can understand if many people share links this way.

The Share event displays under the Utilities events category in Google Analytics and the Event Label shows the breakdown of which page URLs this occurred on.

Hotjar

We use Hotjar's analysis tools, including heatmaps, screen recordings and polls, to better understand our site visitors and collect user feedback.
